Description

The Education Funding Agency wishes to contract with suitably qualified contractors with Education Sector specifically Alternative Provision/SEN experience to design and construct the Spires Academy School. This scope is a total refurbishment of a 1970's office block in the centre of Northampton to create specialised teaching and administration accommodation for up to 100 primary and secondary age pupils and will include asbestos removal, general building and structural works and total M&E systems renewal, it is anticipated that highways works may also be required.

Potential contractors should express their interest and provide details of projects completed of similar scope, budget and specialism in alternative provision/SEN education provision. Tenders will be issued late June with works expected to start on site Nov/Dec 2017, planned completion Autumn 2018. The Form of Contract will be JCT Design and Build with EFA amendments, budgets are fixed and contractors will need to deliver the scheme within available funding budget and within funded GIFA. Limited existing building information is available, the EFA are currently in the process of securing Change of Use planning approval and this is expected to be in place prior to award of contract, the building sits within a Conservation Area.
