Brief Description of Requirement

The Department uses credit bureau analysis to promote Government understanding of businesses' (and especially SMEs') ability to cope with the impact of the pandemic, post-EU exit adjustment, and inflationary and interest rate pressures, etc. to help shape the Department's priorities and inform current and future policies. As well as the Department for Business and Trade, other customers for the project include HMT, Cabinet Office (CO), DCMS, DEFRA and DfE.

The findings and analysis will be used in Cross-Whitehall monitoring work on preparedness and economic surveillance coordinated by the Cabinet Office, the SoS's Business Finance Council as well as the Department's/BBB's workstreams responding to the economic and financial situation of SMEs and promoting economic recovery. HMT and CO also use Experian data; the on-boarding of a leading UK expert in credit bureau data will make the Department's analysis more influential and impactful. Any reports produced by the successful bidder will be in the ownership of the Department.

The findings will also be used in internal policy discussions such as with the Business Finance Assurance Board.
