Description

PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL IS PLANNING TO UNDERTAKE THE REFURBISHMENT OF ONE OF THE CITY'S HISTORIC BUILDINGS.

The building in question is the Elizabethan House (New Street, Plymouth, PL1 2NA) and the project will require the expertise of an exhibition design team to create an immersive exhibition based on the client's concept brief. This will be a design and build contract with an estimated value of £400k plus fees.

The Elizabethan House is:
Grade II* listed building owned by Plymouth City Council;
Dates from the late 16th / early 17th Century;
One of the most complete and unaltered example of a jettied merchant's house in Plymouth.

Plymouth City Council would like to hear from any exhibition design team with relevant experience of working with historic houses and/ or museum environments. A tender exercise will follow and once appointed, the team will be required to assess the building, draw up and implement a scheme of interpretation. Work will need to be completed by 2020 in time for the Mayflower 400 celebrations. Value for services shown are estimates and subject to change.

Plymouth City Council anticipate that the tender exercise will commence by July 2018.

A bidders day will be held on 29th May 2018 where there will be an opportunity to visit the house and hear more about this exciting opportunity. If you would like to attend the bidders day please contact Sandra Pentney on 01752 305939 by 22nd May 2018 to book a place and to request further information.
