Description

This contract covers the installation of a water transfer system from a lagoon close to an IDB drainage pump at the northern end of the Kings Fleet to reservoir filling hydrants on land between the Kings Fleet and Bucklesham.
For this project Felixstowe Hydrocycle Ltd has been formed and is funded by five members of the local farming community and an EEC grant. Local authorities including Suffolk County Council, Anglian Water, IDB, Suffolk Wildlife, English Nature, and ESWAG have an interest in this scheme as a means to better use, to the benefit of the whole of the local community, land drainage water which would otherwise be lost to the sea.
The system design comprises:-
Twin abstraction floating transfer pumps with self cleaning eel screening from the lagoon.
Pumping station and twin booster pumping, variable speed pump controls and monitoring system.
Twin 200mm dia PVC pipes, each approximately 12,km long.
Five reservoir filling remotely operated hydrant assemblies.
Associated road crossings and pipeline valving.
System monitoring, remote alarm and meter readings to a mobile phone.
The project is being managed for Felixstowe Hydrocycle Ltd by John Patrick. Contact details:-

It is anticipated that a tender and contract for the work will be negotiated and confirmed by June 15th 2020, with an installation start date late July 2020 and a contract completion date and system start by 1st January 2021.
Contractors are invited to provide prices, installation schedules and any alternative, similar or equivalent materials, ideas and proposals they may have for the implementation of the whole project . Any change or variation from this specification, proposed by the contractor, is to be detailed, with costings, to the clients representative for consideration and approval. Within 2 weeks of being awarded the contract the successful contractor will be required to provide full details and drawings of their preferred method and means of fulfilling each part of the work to be carried out.
Tenders will be evaluated, compared and assessed by the clients representative and the Felixstowe Hydrocycle Ltd board of directors to assess the most advantageous overall submission, but not necessarily the lowest price.
