Description

National Museums Liverpool (NML, 'Client') is inviting tenders to appoint a Principal Contractor and contractor team to deliver exhibition fit out services for the UK tour of 'Bees: A Story of Survival.' This is a new immersive exhibition experience created by award-winning UK artist Wolfgang Buttress in collaboration with NML. There are two UK venues. The exhibition will launch at National Museums Liverpool, World Museum, in May 2024, and will tour to one other UK venue, opening in June 2025.

The appointed contractor must provide an experienced team to successfully deliver the contract, working with the NML and the onward tour venue Project Teams, WBS and all sub-contractors to construct and deconstruct the exhibition.

The contractor will be responsible for the exhibition preconstruction works. This includes unpacking, condition checking all exhibitions structures and component parts, producing a detailed report to arrange and to complete any necessary remedial works in collaboration with NML and WBS (Wolfgang Buttress Studio). Following, the contractor will be responsible for the construction and installation of the exhibition. This includes the construction of bespoke engineered timber wall structures and raised access flooring, and the installation of Grupa DPS membrane for the AV projections, power and data cables including initial testing, sculptures, interactives, lighting and AV hardware, and retail fixtures and fittings. WBS will deliver specialist exhibition services to complete the construction, which includes the final testing and commissioning of the lighting and AV hardware. All structures and component parts have been designed, manufactured and supplied by WBS. The power and data cables, lighting and AV hardware will be supplied by WBS.

Following the close of the exhibition the contractor will be responsible for the deconstruction of all bespoke engineered timber wall structures and raised access flooring, and the deinstallation of the Grupa DPS membrane, power and data cables, sculptures, interactives, lighting and AV hardware and retail fixtures and fittings.

Further details are contained in the tender documents.

The contract is from the 19 February 2024 to 30 November 2025; and may be extended to 28 February 2026. The contract value for the full potential scope of contract including extension options is estimated to range between £130,000 to £150,000 GBP excluding VAT, (or between £156,000 GBP to £180,000 including VAT). Tenderers are advised that no guarantee can be given regarding the value, of business placed.

As confidential information relating to our exhibition is being shared by NML, procurement documents are made accessible to tenderers during the tender period who have agreed to, signed and returned the NML Non-Disclosure Agreement.
