Description

In 2017 Sheffield Hallam University launched its Transforming Lives Strategy which affirms the university's ambition to be the world's leading applied university, extending and deepening its global engagement. Providing a global experience to all students, on campus or abroad, is a strategic goal of the University.
We are therefore looking for ways to increase the safe and cost-efficient opportunities for students to volunteer abroad as part of our extra curricular offer.
We are interested in volunteering providers which can supply short (1-4 weeks) and longer term (1 - 3 months) options across the following subject areas:

Faculty of Science, Technology and the Arts (STA)
Art and Design
Media Arts and Communications

Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (SSH)
Education, Childhood and Inclusion
Humanities
Law and Criminology
Natural and Built Environment
Psychology, Sociology and Politics

Faculty of Health and Wellbeing (HWB)
Biosciences and Chemistry
Sport and Physical Science
Nursing and Physiotherapy

Sheffield Business School (SBS)
Finance, Accounting and Business Management

By providing volunteering opportunities linked to these subject areas, and encouraging students to take part, we aim to develop their global awareness and employability skills - the ability to work across cultures, intercultural competence, time and project management skills, team work, communication and presentation skills in an international setting .

The aim of the project is to signpost one or more providers who can offer a range of safe, cost effective volunteering opportunities, in the subject areas detailed above. Up to one hundred students annually may be involved in the project. Providers of volunteering opportunities that meet the University's requirements will be signposted to students. Please note that there will be no contract between the University and provider, any contract will be between the student and provider.
