Description

This invitation to tender is for the proposed work comprising the design and installation of the Becontree District Heating (DH) Scheme a new district heating network in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The initial phase of the scheme shall serve the following properties:

•Becontree Leisure Centre
•Barking and Dagenham Civic Centre
•Three new build residential developments being delivered by Countryside properties PLC (comprising Blocks A to G)

Future phases of the scheme shall serve a number of schools in the Becontree area.

A new energy centre shall be built adjacent to the existing Leisure centre comprising gas fired CHP and boiler plant for the supply of heat to the DH network. The existing heating plant within the Leisure Centre plantroom shall be retained and connected to the new Energy centre. A further standalone CHP unit shall also be installed at the Civic centre.

The CHP plant shall be configured to supply electricity to the Leisure Centre and Civic Centre sites with excess electrical generation exported to the grid.

The new Leisure Centre Energy Centre shall be combined with a new 50m pool extension to the south of the existing Leisure centre. Construction of the new pool extension is due to commence in September 2017 with the Energy Centre plantroom available for fit-out in January 2018. The delivery of the pool extension is being provided by Total Swimming on behalf of SLM.

The delivery of the first phase of the works have been split into two separate works packages : Lot 1 and Lot 2. Lot 1 shall comprise the following elements:

•Phase 1 DH network pipework
•Phase 1 Customer Heat Substations

Lot 2 comprise the fit-out of the new Leisure Centre Energy Centre and the installation of the Civic Centre CHP package.
