Description

Derbyshire County Council Adult Care are inviting tenders from suitably qualified providers to deliver a visual impairment rehabilitation, information and advice. The visual impairment rehabilitation, information and advice service will support people with a visual impairment, or who have recently experienced sight loss, to remain independent and at home and also access appropriate and timely information and advice. The service will also operate a mobile resource centre and a range of community drop in events at venues across the county.
The service will help people manage their condition through a range of interventions, including:
• General enquiries: responding to a range of requests by providing signposting, Basic Information and offering Information Advice and Guidance
• Deliver Information Days which are delivered around the County offering an overview of all the support and information available to people with visual impairment and their carers
• Supporting Clients to access the Wireless for the Blind Scheme.
• Arranging access to the Talking Books Service
• Co-ordinating the mobile resource service which delivers information, advice and support at a range of locations across the county.
• Operating fixed resource centres from community based buildings in the north and south of the county

The service will ensure that the Council meets statutory duties, such as the Equality Act (2010), the Accessible Information Standard (2016) and a commitment to work according to the new General Data Protection Regulation (2018). The service will also have a prevention and wellbeing focus in line with the principles of the Care Act (2014) and also fulfil the specific responsibilities in relation to supporting people with a visual impairment.
