Description

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) is driven by the vision of positively improving the quality of life of vulnerable socially excluded people. They are committed to ensure that rough sleeping is prevented wherever possible and, where it cannot be prevented, it is rare, brief and non-recurring.
LBTH recognises that for some who are experiencing rough sleeping may have had a negative experience in traditional accommodation options that become a barrier to them moving from the street to indoors. In addition, for some individuals, hostels may not be most conducive environment to support their recovery. It is therefore imperative that there is more than one accommodation model to be able to provide a personalised approach to ending rough sleeping.
Housing First is an evidence-based approach that supports those who have experienced rough sleeping to live successfully in their own homes with intensive wraparound support.
LBTH aim to procure a service which delivers person centred, holistic support for 24 people in their own home for the duration of the contract. LBTH is working in partnership with a Registered Provider to supply 15 units for this project, with a further 4 provided from the council's own housing stock. These homes will all be located within LBTH.
