Description
PRE-PROCUREMENT MARKET TESTING EXERCISE FOR PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING
Sunderland City Council (SCC) is considering setting up a framework for Public Health Training.
The Healthy City Plan 2020-2030 is Sunderland's Health and Wellbeing Boards refreshed statutory Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The 2030 vision for health and wellbeing in Sunderland is: Everyone in Sunderland will have healthy, happy
lives, with no one left behind. Our 2030 vision for health and wellbeing in Sunderland is for 'Everyone in Sunderland will have healthy, happy lives, with no one left behind.'
Our Healthy City Plan has identified our shared values and behaviours which will guide this approach:
• Focusing on prevention - helping people to stay healthy, happy and independent
• Tackling health inequalities - challenging and taking action to address the inequalities and social determinants of health
• Equity - ensuing fairness in access to services dependent on need
• Building on community assets -recognising individual and community strengths that can be built upon to support good health and independence
• Working collaboratively - everyone playing their part, sharing responsibility and working alongside communities and individuals
• Being led by intelligence - using data and intelligence to shape responses
Sunderland City Council is therefore, seeking to appoint a range of suitably qualified Providers to deliver training and awareness raising to workplaces, community organisations, and the public and private sector. The successful Providers will work collaboratively with the Council and partners to co-produce and develop training programmes that takes a whole system community asset-based approach to capacity building.
In support of the Healthy City Plan, Health Inequalities Strategy, and our Covid response, Public Health need the ability to adapt to change, support local provision, and develop a training offer reflective of a challenging evolving environment. The framework is divided into three key lots which reflect the key themes outlined in the Healthy City Plan.
Lots Theme Priorities
1 Starting Well Laying the foundations for a healthy life from pre-conception to young adulthood
2 Living Well Ensuring people have the opportunity to live a healthy life
3 Ageing Well Ensuring people have the opportunity to live a healthy old age
Each lot will have its own detailed specification which will include theme specific training programmes to help address health inequalities and build public health capacity across Sunderland. The framework will enable Public Health to work with providers to develop a training offer to meet the needs of local people, adapting and developing training courses as need develops.
The purpose of the marketing testing session is for Public Health to present our aims and objectives underpinning our training framework, and to seek views and ideas from potential providers on the training offer.
