Description
The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) ('the Authority')) requires the provision of research and analysis services to inform and shape UK Defence policy and strategy development as directed by the Defence Force Development Model. The DCDC vision is to remain an engaged, collaborative, innovative and skilled team, committed to sharpening Defence's conceptual edge; it achieves this through developing threat-informed future understanding and concepts to shape UK and NATO policy, strategy and force development, and doctrine to guide operations. Key outputs include:
a. The future Global Strategic Trends programme, which provides the long-term strategic context for developing Defence policy and strategy.
b. Concepts, which outline how the armed forces and defence may operate in the future.
c. Doctrine, which provides guidelines for commanders based on best practice and operational experience.
d. Support to Defence policy and strategy development and implementation.
The DCDC Strategic Analysis (SA) team exists to inform policy and strategy development across Defence through analysis, assessment and challenge. Its aim is to improve the capacity within Defence for the provision of high-quality, evidence-based foundational analysis that is focused on Defence's long-term strategic priorities and supports actions taken to address some of the institutional deficiencies identified in reports by Chilcot, Levene and Haddon-Cave. It builds upon DCDC's strengths, which include its:
a. Extensive network of external institutions and perspectives.
b. The ability to access and challenge MOD Head Office.
c. Experience in delivering the rigorous, objective and novel analysis that underpins its key outputs.
d. Focus on the long-term future.
