Description
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is looking to appoint a suitably qualified contractor with a proven record of constructing self-binding gravel and tarmacadam paths. The Council is developing the former Oakwood Hospital Cemetery, off Hermitage Lane ME16 9NW as an informal open space for local residents with a restored footpath network and new seating. Oakwood Cemetery served the former Oakwood Hospital, a psychiatric hospital founded in 1833; the cemetery closed in the 1950s. In 2015 Maidstone Borough Council took over responsibility for the cemetery site from the Department of Health and these works will provide better access around the site for visitors.
