Description

The University of Bristol requires a Main Contractor to construct a new research facility (the National Soil Foundation-Structure Interaction (SoFSI) Facility) at its Langford campus. The new facility will:
- have Gross Internal Area of approximately 630 m2,
- have a steel frame superstructure, concrete block walls and timber cladding,
- have highly reinforced specialist substructure including pit walls and strong floor,
- house a 6 m x 4 m seismic testing table and 5 m x 6 m x 4 m deep test pit,
- house highly sensitive scientific equipment which requires high-precision substructure works.

The construction budget is approximately £4,000,000 to £5,000,000 GBP.

The University intends to appoint a main contractor in January 2020, with a start on site in February 2020 and defect free handover in early Spring 2021.

The University is following a single-stage tender to appoint the contractor, with this procurement following the restricted procedure.

The University is currently progressing detailed design and intends to issue invitations to tender following completion of RIBA stage 4 in late September 2019, to those suppliers shortlisted following this PQQ stage.
