Description

Building future capacity by providing greater access to continuing professional development amongst heritage practitioners has been identified as a key objective in a wide range of recent policy documents. The current cohort of professional (archaeo)dendrochronologists on the UK mainland is rapidly aging and almost all such laboratories are small-sized enterprises. Thus future provision in the heritage sector is under threat. This project is a practical and inventive approach to resolving an imminent structural deficit in dendrochronological provision in the UK.

The aim of this brief is to procure advanced professional training which will be provided by an appropriately experienced established (archaeo)dendrochronology laboratory to a small number of early career (archaeo)dendrochronologists using a series of buildings in Lincoln Cathedral precincts.
