Description

The Science and Industry Museum (SIM) is devoted to inspiring our visitors through ideas that change the world, from the industrial revolution to today and beyond. Our vision is to be a world-leading, inspirational museum about the potential of science and industry to change our lives. It's a story that we're uniquely placed to tell - on the site of the oldest surviving passenger railway station, in the heart of the world's first industrial city, today alive with innovative discoveries in science and technology. In our new Special Exhibitions Gallery, we schedule two major temporary exhibitions a year, and Operation Ouch! will form part of this programme.

The SIM, Manchester, seeks to appoint a Main Contractor to provide services including fabrication, installation and deinstallation of a temporary exhibition. Upon appointment, the Principal Contractor will be informed as to whether the exhibition will tour internationally or not.

The working title for this exhibition is Operation Ouch! Senses. The project is led by SIM who will act as the main client and point of contact.

The exhibition will comprise a number of different component elements, including partition walls, exhibition setworks, display cases, interactives, lighting and electrics, graphics, models and props.

The appointed Main Contractor will be skilled and experienced in supplying and installing all exhibition elements, and will act as Main Contractor and the CDM Principal Contractor, with responsibility of all aspects of management of the Site. This will include coordinating and integrating exhibition fit-out works, deliveries and removals, and coordination with the Museum Project Managers and Designer, as well as other relevant consultants, specialists, suppliers and Museum-direct contractors.
