Description

Wigan Council are in the process of implementing a masterplan for Haigh Hall and Country Park to regenerate the site through private and public sector funding support. The masterplan aims to transform the existing facilities and create a high profile regional visitor attraction. A rebrand of the site to "Haigh Woodland Park" is proposed to acknowledge the importance of the woodlands that form a major part of the site.

Wigan Council are now seeking to appoint a contractor to develop, under a design and build form of contract, an Adventure Golf course incorporating all of the required civil and landscaping works. The Adventure Golf course will replace the existing crazy golf facility and will be supported by a visitors centre. The existing golf shop will be converted into a visitors centre through a project running on a similar timescale to the Adventure Golf development.

The Adventure Golf area is a key component of the masterplan solution and aims to significantly contribute to the increase in the number of visits to the site from the base point of circa 300,000 to a minimum of 500,000 within 3 years. The scale of the Adventure Golf development must support this vision and have capacity to cope with large number of visitors at peak times throughout the year.

Interested organisations are invited to submit concept designs, budget costs, delivery method statements and responses to quality criteria to facilitate evaluation and appointment of a preferred Adventure Golf contractor. Following selection, detailed design will be required to inform a planning application and subsequent contract execution.

The Adventure Golf course design and construction should be based on principles and consider site specific delivery parameters contained within the Project Brief.

A maximum project budget of £350,000 has been agreed to fund the design and build of the Adventure Golf course. The target completion date is mid-July 2016 in advance of the main summer period.

The closing date for final tenders is Wednesday 25th November 2015 at 17:00.

Note: The contract start and end dates stated within this Contract Notice refer to the envisaged start and end of the construction of the course. The Project Brief contains a more detailed contract timetable and the various stages before the construction phase.
