Description
Winchester City Council is looking to re-use an area of agricultural land on the edge of the village of Littleton, known as Littleton Triangle, in a sustainable manner. Littleton Triangle is approximately 30 acres. The council is wishing to appoint a firm of consultants to undertake a feasibility study of this area of land to understand its suitability for the creation of a solar farm, but also considering how a combined approach to use of the land can be undertaken including, but not exclusively nitrate mitigation or tree planting.
In June 2019 the council declared a climate emergency with a target for the council to be carbon neutral by 2024 and the district to be carbon neutral by 2030. Therefore, as part of this, sustainable re-use of land and generation of renewable energy is required. Thus reducing the Council's carbon footprint and achieving the aims of the Carbon Neutrality Action Plan.
