Description

The SDA Technical Directorate, to support the effective delivery of its business, engages with a range of external, technical organisations through individual membership arrangements. MARIN was established in 1990 and is a research organisation and programme coordinator. MARIN is globally recognised as the top institute for maritime research.

This contract has been awarded to MARIN to allow the next phase of CRN (Phase 12) from 1/1/25 to 31/12/27. The detailed content of each work package is subject to member agreement, the group have agreed the following scope of delivery for this phase:

Intact Stability

To maintain the validation of FREDYN for application in simulating extreme motions of naval ships.

To assess the dynamic stability of small combatants and identify a stability parameter with a close correlation with capsize and a suitable criteria.

Correlate ship design features with capsize probability.

Damage Stability

Improve the performance of the FREDYN flooding model as a result of validation model testing.

Perform a pilot evaluation of a damaged frigate to derive the sensitivity of parameters of interest and develop a process for the evaluation of naval ships for the derivation of future damage stability criteria.

Perform a sensitivity of inputs and establish a taut simulation methodology.
