Description
It is the Boards intension to award this contract to a single Contractor, and it is envisaged that the successful Tenderer will co-ordinate the running of a two (2) phase project at Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.
The proposed works principally involve the de-commissioning and removal of the obsolete sealed beam optic lamp array and electrical operating / monitoring system for replacement with an equivalent updated operating system and LED optic technology. All electrical systems will be replaced and tested to current electricity at work regulations BS 7671. The Lighthouse Tower and Quarterdeck buildings are also to be completely refurbished along with the application of decorative / protective coatings to all external and internal elevations of the structure including the internal quarterdeck room.
The project shall be split into 2 phases : Phase 1 shall consist of the refurbishment of the 2 outer quarterdecks, which shall then be handed over to the Mull of Galloway Trust to be used as exhibition space. It is intended to carry out this work beginning April 2018 and should last no longer than 6 weeks. Phase 2 shall be the complete refurbishment and upgrade of the tower and all external work. It is proposed to undertake this phase beginning September 2018. This stage should be completed within 20 weeks
