Description

Nottingham City Council is seeking tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified contractors to provide consultancy in regard to District Heating requirements. The authority intends to conduct a Feasibility Study into the implementation of a District Heat Network at the Island Site. Nottingham as a city is starting the low carbon transition from a leading position. 40 years ago Nottingham developed an affordable heating solution by recovering energy from municipal waste collected across the city and surrounding areas. Today this system delivers 126GWh of renewable heating and cooling annually which is distributed through approximately 90km of pipework to our customers across the city. To meet our 2020 target we therefore need to increase renewable heating and cooling demand by 63% annually or 79GWh. Although the 12% heat demand from renewables is challenging, Nottingham is already well over half way to achieving this.
