Description

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Fusion Energy was set up in 2018 in order to increase awareness and support for fusion amongst MPs and Peers.
It is a forum for parliamentarians from across the political spectrum (as well as representatives from industry and the R&D community) to hear about the latest developments in fusion and how they can support UK fusion research.
The UK Atomic Energy Authority (the national body for UK fusion research) was the prime mover behind setting up the group in 2018 and is currently the APPG Secretariat - responsible for organising the group's activities in conjunction with the Chair, John Howell MP.
However, the fusion landscape in the UK has since changed significantly and there is now a need for the APPG to better represent the wider fusion ecosystem. This ranges from national labs and private sector fusion companies, to the supply chain and academic institutions. With that in mind, the secretariat for the APPG will soon move to the UK Fusion Cluster - an industry-wide body with more than 200 member organisations.
UKAEA is looking for a public affairs agency to support The Fusion Cluster in running the Fusion Energy APPG for an initial year, with the prospect of a longer-term arrangement. The successful supplier will work with the Cluster to make the group a more effective tool for the fusion industry, increasing engagement with parliamentarians and building cross-party support for fusion.
