Description

The England Coast Path (ECP) is a walking route that will follow the entire coast of England, and approximately 2,700 miles. The National Trail path is being opened in sections but will, when completed, be the longest coastal path in the UK.

At the moment, you can only walk some sections. The open sections are shown on the interactive map on National Trails and new sections will be added as they open.

Work is ongoing and a large proportion of the ECP will be finished by the end of 2023 which will mark the first-time people will have the right of access around all of England's open coast.

A big part of the Natural England 25 Year Environment Plan is connecting people with nature to improve health and wellbeing (read more in chapter 3).

To celebrate the completion of the ECP and the many benefits it offers local and national communities, we're planning engagement events in 2023 and 2024, in key locations around the coastline, including some cities. These events aim to encourage people to make use of the ECP, while also promoting key messages from the Countryside Code about enjoying nature responsibly and safely.

Our event locations are:
Weymouth - Nothe Fort - 10 & 11 June 2023

Ilfracombe - Landmark Theatre - 24 June 2023

Allonby - Blue Dial Caravan Park - 8 & 9 July 2023

Great Yarmouth - Marina Centre - 24 September 2023

Weston-Super-Mare - Museum - 30 September 2023
