• Reuse of the material excavated from the canal for construction of embankments.
The ground investigation will comprise a series of trial pits and boreholes in four locations: along the alignment of the proposed canal, and at three existing bridges. The majority of these will be undertaken along the proposed canal, comprising 50 trial pits and 10 boreholes. The following three locations are where bridges are proposed, with two locations being comprised of one borehole each, and the final having two 3 trial pits, 1 borehole and 6 dynamic probes. Geotechnical and environmental sampling, in-situ and laboratory testing and the production of a factual report will be required.
It is anticipated that two rigs will be required to complete the work in the proposed timescale of approximately 3 weeks with two engineers. The contractor shall provide a proposed programme of works and an indication of possible site work start date as part of their tender submission.
