Description

The Contractor (Align JV) has identified a package of works for the supply and application of sprayed waterproofing on the newly constructed viaduct deck, associated with our works for the Colne Valley Viaduct construction.
The scope of works will include:
- Surface preparation (i.e. grit blasting) with associated control measures
- Temporary protection of permanent works by others in close proximity of the waterproofing activity undertaking
- Temporary protection of completed waterproofing works for proceeding trades
- Dressing up of permanent installations on the deck i.e. cast instu robust kerbs, noise barrier plates, duct etc.
Note that due to the programme sequencing of the deck finish installations, the waterproofing activity will be undertaken in defined stages / areas.

The package will be competitively tendered and assessed against a split between commercial (price) and defined technical criteria.
In July 2017, ALIGN (Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and Volker Fitzpatrick) won the significant C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). Lot C1 consists of 21.6km of high speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 15.75km twin-tubes tunnel and five vent shafts handling both piston effect and tunnel ventilation.
