Description

The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is amongst the largest County Fire Services in the country servicing a population of just over one million and covering an area of 834 square miles. There is an establishment of approximately 1000 uniformed and non-uniformed staff, with a total of 24 operational fire stations of which 11 are staffed by wholetime/regular firefighters. The remaining 13 stations are staffed by retained firefighters.

NFRS provides a 24/7/365 service. Its personnel, vehicles and equipment must be available at short notice to respond to incidents. It is a statutory duty of NFRS to ensure that this equipment is efficient, effective and available at all times and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements. It is imperative that downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.

NFRS are looking to put in place refreshed arrangements for the provision of Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Arrangements, commencing 1st July 2019 for an initial 5 year period with the option to extend for a further 3 plus 2 years.

The Contract is for the maintenance of Light and Heavy fleet vehicles including fire appliances and associated equipment. The light fleet will generally not exceeding 3500kgs. The Maintenance of heavy fleet including fire appliances and associated equipment will generally include all vehicles over 3500kg GVW includes all fire appliances, special appliances, aerial ladder platforms, mini buses and an 18 tonne driver training vehicle. The associated equipment consists of c400 items of plant, such as but not limited to ladders, light portable pumps, generators, and positive pressure ventilator fans.

Note: operational equipment such as breathing apparatus, and road-side cutting equipment are explicitly excluded from this arrangement.
