Description
The Hive Leisure Centre located in Ely (CB6 2FE) is a district leisure centre in East Cambridgeshire owned by East Cambridgeshire District Council and run by GLL / Better. The facility has an 8-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool, gym, sports hall, fitness studies and 3G artificial football pitch with floodlights.
The District Council is seeking to install solar PV panels on the roof of the building. The building height is 10m and can be access from within the building, but panels would need to be lifted from the outside. It is a flat roof with a single ply membrane and has a man safe system. The project has an indicative budget of £100k for the PV panels work with the potential of additional funding for Battery storage.
Battery storage is a separate part of the project and not part of the initial funding gained to deliver the PV panels but an option that we would like to explore.
The Hive Leisure Centre plans to remain fully operational during the works and therefore any necessary requirements would need to be requested with the management team.
The project is to be completed by 31st March 2025.
