Description

Slough Library has been a main focal point at the heart of Slough's town centre since its official opening on 15th May 1975. In the subsequent 40 years, the building has housed Slough's library services and has not had any major refurbishments carried out.

As such, the building still maintains its original look and is not in keeping with the Councils 'Heart of Slough' modernisation plan. In 2014 building work began on The Curve, a new multi-functional building that will house Slough's Library Services amongst other Council services.

The Curve is scheduled to open at the end of 2015 and the library services will vacate the existing building and move into The Curve leaving the old Library empty. The project aim is demolish the redundant Library in a timely and cost effective manner that will enable the site to be marketed or developed that is in line with SBC's 5 year plan and as such reduce the hazards and risks associated with an empty building.
