Description

Somerset West and Taunton Council is embarking on a significant project to transform The Crescent car park asset in Taunton to provide a high quality parking experience for its customers that takes account of the impacts such facilities have on the environment.

The development will deliver:

• effective vehicle and pedestrian management
• provide for electric vehicle charging points for both electric vehicles and mobility transportation that will meet increases in demands
• minor backlog repair works to the existing drainage systems
• modern payment options - new solar powered payment points
• CCTV Security installations - installation of new below ground ducts

Scope of Works:

1. Remove the existing wearing and base layers and renew to new specifications.
2. Change the layout of the car parks, incorporating enhanced space standards to individual parking spaces and to provide safer coloured pedestrian walkways throughout.
3. Provide 19no. useable electric vehicle charging points to the North car park and the installation of a new IMVA transformer.
4. Enhance the visual amenity of both car parks through the introduction of tree planting and the use of quality street furniture.
5. The scheme will make provision to screened off areas, such as bin stores, and to 'flag' the Bath Place pedestrian access way within the North car park.
6. Carry out repair work to existing below ground surface water drainage and road gullies.
