Description

The Birmingham Community Equipment Loan Service (BCELS) is being recommissioned and the new service is due to start on 1st April 2025.

BCELS is commissioned to meet the health and wellbeing needs of citizens who are:
 Residents of Birmingham.
 Registered with a Birmingham GP who is a member of NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB
 Where exceptional authorisation has been given by commissioners, for example, in emergency cases, where people are subject to court orders, deprivation of liberty etc.

It is proposed that the new contract will be for a 5 plus 5 years (10-year max) contract but this subject to final approval and the current estimated annual spend is around £7.5m per year.

This event will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday 21st February 2024 and is scheduled to run from 14.00-16:00 with presentations beginning at 14.30.

The venue will be 10 Woodcock St, Birmingham, B7 4BL- see enclosed map for parking details & local amenities.

This is an opportunity for potential contract bidders to find out more about the requirements for this service. To gain an insight into the service specification highlights and an opportunity for any initial questions to be asked around BCC's procurement processes.

Commissioners and Procurement Leads from Health and Social Care will be attending and would welcome any discussion around innovations that are new or emerging in the provision of a community loan equipment service and an opportunity to test their current thinking around the highlights for the service specification and the timeline proposed.
Please contact Kamran Mahmood (Clinical Lead & Contract Manager) on 07917 643498 or email kamran.a.mahmood@birmingham.gov.uk to confirm attendance. We respectfully ask that only two people from each organisation attend.
