Description
The Science Museum Group ("SMG", the "Authority") is the world's pre-eminent Museum devoted to the history of science, technology, industry and Medicine. The SMG incorporates the Science Museum (South Kensington, London), the National Railway Museum (York), Locomotion: The National Railway Museum (Shildon), the National Science & Media Museum (Bradford), Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester) and National Collections Centre (Wiltshire).
This is a project to repair several rail roads that connect to the turntable in the Great Hall at the National Railway Museum (NRM), York. There are 24 no. roads in total and this project will deliver repairs to eight of them.
Funding is in place for the first phase of this project, which will be to complete the investigations and design work for of all eight roads and the repair works to the first road: Road No. 2. The indicative budget for the contractor design & main works is £57,000. SMG are waiting for confirmation of funding available for completion of the repairs to the remaining seven roads.
The successful contractor will be required to provide a schedule of rates and indicative programme(s) for the works for all 8 no. roads, from which the NRM client will decide to commit to, subject to necessary funding approvals. Repairs to each road will be programmed as project funding becomes available.
