Description

It is the Boards intension to award this contract to a single Contractor, and it is envisaged that the successful Tenderer will co-ordinate and complete the required Civil Refurbishment Works at Loch Ryan Lighthouse is situated approximately one mile north of the village of Cairnryan and 6 miles north of Stranraer on the eastern side of Loch Ryan within the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland at Latitude 54° 58.47'N, Longitude 005° 01.84'W.

Proposed Works
Civil refurbishment of lighthouse tower and associated buildings - Loch Ryan Lighthouse
The proposed work primarily involves extensive repairs to the existing masonry staircase including the removal and replacement of several stone steps, the removal of the existing timber lining from within the tower, the application of an internal proprietary plaster system, the installation of a new balcony handrail and a full internal and external decoration of all NLB operational buildings.
More specifically, the main items of project work are as listed below:-
This works will include:
•Carry out a full Asbestos Refurbishment / Demolition Survey
•Temporary removal / protection of the existing domestic electrical installation and maintenance
•test the existing 'HCL' fall arrest system and re-certify it before use
•Removal and replacement of handrail and balustrade in Watchroom.
•Removal of all existing paint coatings from the surface and soffit of the staircase.
•Replacement of all timber sash and case windows within the tower.
•Replacement of flush-panel doors to the balcony porch with hardwood doors.
•Refurbishment of the internal door and modification to include louvers at low level.
•All surrounding NLB buildings to be made secure and wind / water tight.
•Refurbishment of station entrance security gates as required.
•Cleaning out of the gully in the courtyard to ensure it drains freely.
•Refurbishment of timber battery cupboard at top of masonry stair.
•De-mobilisation of site including the clearance

Site Visit
Tenderers are requested to attend a mandatory site visit schedule for 25 September 2020 at 10:00hrs to familiarize themselves with the location and the available site space and any restrictions.
