Description
Approximately 170 sites along the Anglian navigable waterways: This includes the Stour, Great Ouse, Nene, Ancholme, South Forty Foot Drain, and Welland & Glen river systems across Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Suffolk.
Contractors are required to tag and survey the condition of trees, with regard to public safety, at sites which the Environment Agency has a responsibility to maintain.
Initially via a desk exercise, the Contractor will establish the need for, and then prioritise and conduct site visits in accordance with Operational Instruction 362_09. Once a site visit has been undertaken the Contractor will be required to provide a report on the number and condition of trees at each particular EA site, and in a format which can be directly input into our Asset Information Management system (AIMS).
The key element of this contract is to carry out tree condition surveys. Depending on findings during a visit, contractors may be asked to carry out emergency limb removal or felling in order to manage/minimise any immediate risks to the public, but otherwise any recommendations for remedial works are to be contained in the Contractor's report.
Suppliers must be able to provide evidence of competencies, training and certification to carry out such works.
