Description

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is based in Nuneaton that provides a range of hospital and community based care across the whole of Warwickshire as well as South West Leicestershire.
The Trust operates out of the George Eliot Hospital based on the outskirts of the town in North Warwickshire. This hospital provides a range of medical, surgical, women's and children's services including accident and emergency, maternity and cancer services. The site size is approximately 55,000m2.The Trust is currently in the process of updating one of the older substations on site and it has become apparent that there is a need to upgrade the generator so the substation can be converted to a fully essential system upon mains failure. The works under this particular contract comprise replacing the existing generator system with a new
larger output standby unit. Precautions shall be put in place to
minimise the chance that any part of the hospital may inadvertently be left without electricity.
In summary, the following represents the scope of work under this contract:
• Decommission and remove the existing Auto Diesels 560kVA generator set, including all existing controls, & battery units.
• Remove existing attenuators.
• Remove existing day tank
• Remove existing litre bulk storage tank (by others)
• Remove all redundant pipework and electrical cabling.
• Supply and install new 1250kVA standby open generator
• Supply and install new plant room acoustic attenuators
• Supply and install new exhaust and ductwork systems
• Supply and install new day fuel storage tank
• Supply and install new day tank fuel transfer system
• Supply and install new control systems, filters, alarms and level sensors
• Pipe in pipe system for fuel line connections
• Fuel system incoming fire valve
• Factory witness testing
• Commissioning
• Supply and installation of temporary generator.
• Decommissioning of temporary generator at end of these works.
