Description

The Works are to strengthen the arch barrels to an old railway structure using the iGap system (or similar approved) and associated brickwork repairs.

The structure is a three span, brick arch structure that carries Dumps Road over the Disused railway line in Whitwick, Leicestershire.
Hammer tapping of the arch barrel has indicated sections of hollowness to all three arch barrels, indicating arch ring separation. The proposal is to stitch the arch rings together using helifix bars (or similar approved) and to fill any voids between the arch rings by means of resin injection.
Brickwork repairs to the arch soffits, including cleaning, repointing and brick replacement will also be required.
