Description

The European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures (ECACC) run by Public Health England (PHE) is the custodian of four unique collections that consist of expertly preserved, authenticated cell lines and microbial strains of known provenance for use in medical science and laboratory healthcare. ECACC maintains and supplies cell lines and their derivatives such as DNA, RNA and cDNA.
ECACC has a global reputation as being one of the main distributors of authenticated cell lines. The authentication of human cell lines (which represents 75% of those distributed) is done by a global standard technique known as Short Tandem Repeat (STR) profiling. The STR profiling is undertaken by an external service provider, who sends ECACC the raw data for analysis. The analysis of data is carried out using Genemapper V.5 software, however the current solution is no longer able to support the unit requirements, as the service provide is moving to Genemapper IDX v1.6.

ECCAC is seeking to procure the upgrade to Genemapper V.5 in order to be able to transcribe the data provided by Genemapper IDX software.

The solution must be capable of automated genotyping and fragment analysis solution for, amongst other things, generating STR profiles for human cell lines. It must support a multi-user database configuration and provide a set of streamlined data analysis and sample review tools. It also must offer a comprehensive quality value system that enables the customisation and validation for use in both expert system and traditional data analysis workflows.
