Description

Air Platform Systems Delivery Team (APS DT), part of the Ministry of Defence ("the Authority"), intends to enter into a three-year contract extension with BAE Systems (BAES) for the through-life support of AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) ("the Contract"). This includes repair, maintenance, technical engineering support, training, and associated spares provision; and for the through-life support of AN/ALQ 157 ("the Contract") for technical engineering support and post-design services. BAES are the OEM and the Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS) approved organisation for both AN/AAR-57 CMWS and AN/ALQ 157. Only BAES have sufficient access to technical and safety information, and competency to provide the safety assurance APS DT requires.
BAES are also the only organisation with the necessary technical knowledge and experience to provide the required repair, technical support, and post-design services. In addition, a key requirement for APS DT from a Design Organisation is to produce the "DO Safety Assessment and Report".
The Authority has determined this single source contract is excluded from Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011 under Regulation 7(1)(a) in conjunction with Regulation 6(3A) (a).
