Description

Highways England is looking to set up a contract for provision of technical consultancy services, to deliver a driver simulator trial and feasibility study to assess the likely impact of reducing the number of advance variable signs and signals (VSS) for incidents on safety and driver compliance.
Research from a number of simulator trials shows that drivers become less compliant when 3 or more signals are displayed in advance of an event on the road.
This project will conduct a feasibility study into the use of fewer signs and signals to manage incidents.
