Description
Aston University's Estates and Capital Developments department have a mission to deliver and maintain a sustainable campus and infrastructure that enhances the student experience and provides high quality accommodation and space that is accessible, efficient, flexible and responds to the needs of all its users.
Integral to the ongoing campus redevelopment master plan is the relocation of the Aston Students Union to a new location in the heart of the University campus. To enable this Aston University wish to procure via competitive tender a Principle Contractor to construct a new Aston Students' Union building.
The new facility will be located on the site of what is currently known as surface car park 12, adjacent to the recently completed multi-purpose sports pitch. The building Contract will comprise a mix of single and two storey steel framed construction, curtain wall glazing, zinc cladding, block and render walls, full M&E fit out including connection of incoming and outgoing services, internal fit out including all fixtures and finishes, landscaping to the immediate vicinity, and coordination of client direct packages such as IT / AV and Furniture installation.
The new Aston Student Union is required for operation in Easter 2019 and as such the Practical completion (\"PC\") date for works will be 29th March 2019, once the University is satisfied that the ASU is functioning in accordance with the specification and all systems have been witness tested and signed off as completed by the University and its representatives.
Planning approval for the ASU was granted on 4th February 2016.
