Description

NHS Guildford and Waverley Clinical Commissioning Group (the CCG) has redesigned the model of care for acute and community dermatology services and wishes to invite suitably qualified and experienced providers to submit tenders for the provision of an Integrated Dermatology Service. A potential bidder can be a stand-alone organisation or an alliance of organisations.
NHS Guildford and Waverley CCG serves a registered population of approximately 220,000 people across 21 GP practices.

Current pattern of service and future vision
Historically, the CCG has commissioned acute and community services from two separate providers. There has been an overall increase in demand since the community service launched, and it is recognised that in order to manage future demand and deliver pathways in a seamless manner, a new integrated model of care is required.
The CCG's vision for dermatology services is to commission an organisation or an alliance of organisations to deliver the whole spectrum of dermatological conditions which might usually be seen in a secondary care or community settings. This will include those patients referred under the two week rule.
The CCG wishes to receive bids that demonstrate use of innovation and partnership working to manage future demand. Bids should also align with the CCG's Commissioning Intentions, which aim to deliver care in out of hospital settings as far as possible.
The key outcomes from a new integrated service include:
• Delivery of a high quality dermatology service provided mainly in community settings, as appropriate to the patient's need;
• Improved patient access to dermatology care, diagnostics and treatment within the community;
• Improved patient management of long term skin disease;
• Reduced waiting times for treatment;
• The majority of patients being seen in 'one stop shops';
• Improved advice and guidance to GPs and nurses regarding management of dermatological conditions in primary care.

The expected date for contract commencement is October 2016 based on a three year contract with the option to extend for 2 years. Therefore, if the contract is not extended it will conclude September 2019, and if the 2 year option to extend is activated the Contract will conclude September 2021.
