Description

The Council and University of Worcester are seeking a solution that is fit-for-purpose, future proofed, and flexible for the changing needs of a modern library solution, in order to provide an enhanced set of library services both for the public in Worcestershire and for all academic users of the University wherever they are based.
The core scope of the required service is a solution to support and deliver the operational requirements of the two sets of library services provided by the Council and the University: to satisfy current requirements and also for known or expected future needs.
The University has a separate and specific need for a set of tools to manage the University's online and print subscriptions, and the discovery of all University library resources.
The requirements of a modern library solution have evolved since the original contract was signed: new digital ways of interaction, the need for end-to-end digital processing and integration with other mainstream digital services have all had an impact. Enhanced functionality and integration is now required between the various components of the library solution, and with other Council and University systems, such as Pharos and MyPC.
Much duplicated effort is spent in maintaining the current University specific systems and managing the University's increasingly complex interactions. A solution is now required which includes the management of both print and online resources, an improved user experience, improved workflows, and which provides a connected picture of resource usage, which is pivotal to decision-making around purchases.
