Description
Data Collection, Access and Provision for the 'Bicycles and Intelligent Transport Systems' (BITS)
To equip bikes in a bike lending library system with a data device that helps ERYC to establish a foundation for cycling data in Withernsea over the course of 12 months.
• Can be fitted and removed easily from the bicycle but remains secure when in use
• Is light-weight and vandal resistant
• Is waterproof, has low power usage/easily rechargeable and is easy to use
• Is 'connected' in that the device is supported by a bespoke app or other secure online platform or can be integrated with an existing app or online platform
• Tracks the bicycle and provides the location to the user, ERYC and bike library cycle buddy via an app or other secure online sharing platform. Theft alerts transmitted to the user would be a desirable feature.
• Collects and stores profile data of the individual users (e.g. age, gender, phone number) that can be accessed by ERYC and the cycle buddy securely
• Provides the user, ERYC and the cycle buddy with the user's ride statistics, for example distances cycled; length, frequency and times of rides; destinations; average speed and calories burned. NB: The data will be used by ERYC and the cycle buddy to provide personalised support to the user, for example better route planning or incentives to cycle more.
• Collects and provides data on cycle safety, for example where users may be braking or swerving, for ERYC and the cycle buddy
• Collects and provides data on road surface conditions, for use by ERYC
