Description

This project aims to procure a supplier for the development of a toolkit with a suite of functions which will allow policy makers to assess the environmental and societal impacts and trade-offs of different management options associated with how fishing opportunities are allocated and managed between inshore and offshore fleets. This project will look at vessels, gear, environmental interactions and societal costs to help inform managers how additional fishing opportunities could be allocated in a way which rewards and incentivises fishing practices which minimise environmental impacts, benefits society and considers the effect of displacement as a result of decision making.

Our vision is to contribute to a more holistic approach to ecosystem based fisheries management that takes into account the different sections of the English fleet and ensures they are managed in an effective manner that encourages the use of environmentally friendly techniques. We want to develop a world class fisheries management system, which supports sustainable fisheries and a productive fishing industry post EU Exit.
