Description

Reading Borough Council wish to appoint a contractor to carry out the following work:

This is a two storey semi-detached house with loadbearing walls, both the external and internal walls are brickwork. The Ground floor to be assumed to be a bearing concrete slab, and the first floor to be a suspended timber floor. The roof pitch is 35 degrees and has clay tiles, with the roof structure being a cut timber purlin roof. The proposed works include the removal of the wall between the kitchen and dining/hallway on the ground floor, to open up the rear half of the house. Remove the chimney breast on ground floor and first floor in dining room and bedroom 2 respectively, enlarging the door opening from the kitchen out to the garden, and fitting a larger door leading to the driveway at the front of the property.

The property will be vacated for the duration of the works, but the contractor is to ensure that the the house and if left the residents belongings are fully protected.
