Description

Portley Hill Depot is situated on Ely Road south of Littleport. The property is occupied by East Cambs Trading Company Ltd and East Cambs Street Scene the Councils Parks and Maintenance service and Waste Management Company.
The Council are seeking a Lead Design & Build Contractor for the supply and installation of a new sewage treatment plant to compliment the modification of the existing buried septic tank. The occupied site is in use and required to remain operational throughout the duration of the works. The Contractor should ensure works can be undertaken in a safe and appropriate manner with no impact to the site's operation. Returns should include a methodology of proposed timings and separation of workspace to facilitate the installation works.
The new plant should be designed to be suitable for use of up to 100 persons occupation and be installed above-ground due to the site being on a waste transfer site by Summer 2023. Consideration to be given to the fact that the rainwater from the roof of the building at present also flows into the existing septic tank. Where a below-ground installation is proposed it is the duty of the Contractor to satisfy themselves any associated excavated material disposal and contamination prevention measures are quantified and included within the bid.
The installation and discharge arrangements must comply with the Environmental Agency's General Binding Rules for small sewage discharge or obtain a bespoke Environmental Permit for discharge. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure all compliance obligations are being met with appropriate certification obtained.
The sewage treatment plant should comply with all relevant applicable regulations and be BS EN 12566 compliant with the installation in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
The Contractor must satisfy themselves of the suitability for conversion of the existing septic tank for re-use with pumps installed. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to undertake and provide electrical connections as necessary to the works.
