Description

National Health Service (NHS) Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGCSU) on behalf of NHS England (referred to as the Commissioner(s)) are inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver high energy Proton Beam Therapy Service(s) to paediatric, teenage and young adult (TYA) patients. The Commissioner is looking for suitable service provider/s from within Europe (including UK).

The aim of the service is to provide high energy proton beam therapy services to paediatric and TYA patients, to improve cancer outcomes, reduce morbidity arising from treatment, and support the patient and family throughout their cancer journey and beyond at a high quality treatment provider commissioned by NHS England.

The Service(s) will be required to meet the following needs:

(1) delivery of accurately targeted therapeutic doses of radiation to tumours

(2) ability to minimise and reduce the short and long-term side effects of treatment

(3) maintenance of good patient (and family) experience of treatment

(4) maintenance of safe integration with other aspects of treatment and interventions within the clinical pathway of care

(5) to be able to start treatment within clinically appropriate time-lines


As a result of this procurement exercise an agreement will be established with the successful Bidder(s) for a period of three years with the Commissioner having the option to extend the Contract for up to a further 2 years.

The successful provider(s) is expected to be fully operational, providing services from 01st February 2018
