Description

An invitation to quote for consultants or active travel specialists to produce an Active Travel Plan or Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for the North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA). It is being issued by the North York Moors National Park Authority.
Wider stakeholder inputs are expected as part of the development of the LCWIP. The LCWIP will be developed with reference to the Department for Transport's LCWIP guidance, the key outputs of an LCWIP are:
- a network plan for walking and cycling which identifies preferred routes and core zones for further development
- a prioritised programme of infrastructure improvements for future investment
- a report which sets out the underlying analysis carried out and provides a narrative which supports the identified improvements and network
There also needs to be considered thought on the rural nature of this work, looking at the range of user groups, and the appropriateness of implementing LTN1/20 Cycle Infrastructure Design within the rural context. Certain infrastructure improvements would not be appropriate in the rural context, particularly within a protected landscape.
The proposed outcome: The aim of this Active Travel Plan is to target future investment where it will be most effective, backed up by a report detailing understanding of a select number of travel corridors. By enhancing our baseline understanding, we can advocate for vital infrastructure improvements enabling multi-modal travel and improved Active Travel to the National Park.
