Description

The Royal Parks ( "TRP" ) publishes this notice to inform qualified suppliers to complete the Selection Questionnaire for pre-qualification, the Tender process will be akin to the competitive procedure with negotiation and pre-qualification with limited qualified suppliers. Interested qualified suppliers, who have not received the SQ, can access the form via Delta for submission.

The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Playground is a two-year project that will invest £2 million into the refurbishment and play improvement of the site. This tender consists of one Work Package (WP) with two lots. The intention is to appoint a design and build supplier for the removal of the existing structures, and the design, manufacture, and installation of replacement of two large pieces of play equipment, the Galleon (Lot 1) and the Tree House Encampment (Lot 2) at the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Playground (DPWMP) in Kensington Gardens. Dependant on a successful outcome, TRP

After more than 20 years the current installations are reaching the end of its anticipated lifespan. This brief will form part of an open invitation to specialists in the design and manufacture of play equipment to develop costed proposals for the replacement of the existing structures. The supplier will provide a sustainable solution to the decommissioning and removal of the existing structures working with TRP for its post life recycling/ repurposing. TRP will not consider its reuse as play equipment. The resultant design proposal must be true to the Peter Pan story, demonstrate design excellence, and respond to the character of the playground and Kensington Gardens as a whole respecting the Royal Park setting .

The replacement features must be completed before the end of February 2025, however, TRP will be looking to complete the procurement as early as possible to allow maximum time for the design and build process and sign-off. (TRP intends to award WP1 by December 2023 subject to approval and a successful outcome) This is to ensure RIBA Stage 3 will be reached by April '24 to submit a planning application with sufficient time for determination before construction commences.
The proposed contract term for WP1 is a 15-month period for design, manufacture, and onsite installation, with an added 5-year maintenance contract. The maintenance contract would then be renewed on a 5-year ongoing contract subject to regulations.
