Description

21670 - Expression of Interest - Design Team B: Mount Batten Peninsular & NMP Welcome Centre, National Marine Aquarium
Plymouth, Britain's Ocean City, made history in 2019 when key local, regional and national partners came together to create the UK's first ever National Marine Park (NMP). This has cross-party support locally and has now been recognised by central Government. Plymouth City Council is helping to co-ordinate the development and delivery of the National Marine Park.

In June 2021 the Plymouth City Council was awarded £9.58million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund - Heritage Horizon Awards - towards the development of the NMP. Thanks to the lottery players, we can now start bringing the Park to life.
