Description

There are several sheltered housing schemes across the city. Sheltered housing, is predominantly, for people aged over 60 who wish to carry on living independently but who require some support in order to do so.

Our vision is to maximise opportunities for older people to live self-sufficiently by providing good quality accommodation. To provide support in line with individuals needs and to offer activities and social events helping prevent social isolation and to encourage active ageing.

Cambridge City Council has 8 sheltered housing schemes. These schemes each have a communal fire alarm system, operated from a single fire panel connecting directly to the fire service. The fire service attend each alarm activation, but have no responsibility for re-setting the fire panel following its activation. This contract is being let to provide that service.
