Description

ASSIST aims to establish between 10-20 research platforms (40-80 experiments) across the United Kingdom to improve crop productivity whilst reducing environmental impacts.
One such environmental impact is the release of potent greenhouse gases (GHG's) (global warming and human health impacts) from agricultural systems including soils which can reduce environmental benefits.
Given the number of fieldsites NERC have won capital funding to build a mobile greenhouse gas laboratory which can be moved from location to location.
The Skyline system was bespoke designed by York University engineers for a similar NERC funded project in 2014. It consists of one large GHG chamber which moves along a zip line from location to location to enclose a soil and plant area for GHG measurement.
